Lake Nona Wedding Venues: A Photographer's Guide

October 12, 2026·8 min read

Lake Nona wedding venues are some of the newest and most polished in Central Florida, and this corner of Orlando happens to be home for us. We are Tito and Kianna Febus of Febus Films, a husband-and-wife photography team. Lake Nona is where we live. After more than 14 years of photographing weddings and more than 400 celebrations across Central Florida, we have strong opinions about what makes a venue work on camera. This guide is our honest read of the area: the venues couples ask about, what drives the cost, and the light and logistics that matter once the day actually arrives.

Which Lake Nona wedding venues should you know first?

Start with four names. Lake Nona Wave Hotel brings modern, design-forward celebrations to the town center. Lake Nona Golf and Country Club offers a private, lakeside club setting. Dockside Lake Nona is a smaller lakeside event space in Laureate Park, and Wanderlust Okto adds a five-acre estate with a barn just beyond the community’s edge. Between them, nearly every style a couple could want here is covered.

Lake Nona Wave Hotel. The Wave is the area’s modern showpiece, a design-led hotel in the middle of the town center with clean lines, glass, and art at every turn. For couples who want a wedding that feels current rather than traditional, it is the natural first tour. Guests can stay on site, which keeps the whole weekend in one place and takes transportation stress off your timeline entirely.

Lake Nona Golf and Country Club. This is the classic counterpoint to the Wave: a private club on the lake, with fairways, mature oak shade, and a quieter, more traditional elegance. Celebrations here feel intimate and tucked away from the city, and the grounds give portraits a timeless, green backdrop that never goes out of style.

Dockside Lake Nona. In Laureate Park, Dockside pairs a modern event space with lake and garden views. It suits couples who want the Lake Nona feel at a smaller scale, with a ceremony on the water and a relaxed, open-air flow to the evening.

Wanderlust Okto. A few minutes beyond the town center, this five-acre estate pairs a barn with gardens and room to breathe. It is the rustic-modern option in the area, and a good fit for couples who want an outdoor celebration that still feels private.

New spaces keep opening as the community grows, so don’t treat this list as finished. The four above are where we’d start any search for Lake Nona wedding venues.

How much do Lake Nona weddings cost?

There is no single price tag for Lake Nona wedding venues, because they work in very different ways. A full-service hotel folds catering minimums and staffing into one proposal. A private club prices around membership access and in-house dining. An estate or event space may charge a rental fee and let you bring your own vendor team. Guest count, season, and the day of the week move every one of those numbers, so the drivers matter more than any headline figure.

Season is the biggest lever. Central Florida’s wedding season runs from about October through April, when Saturdays carry premium pricing everywhere in the region. Summer dates often come with softer rates, traded against heat and afternoon rain. Fridays and Sundays nearly always cost less than Saturdays at the same venue.

Ask for every proposal in writing, itemized: the venue fee, the food and beverage minimum, service charges, and what the rain backup includes. Two venues with similar quotes can be hundreds or thousands apart once those lines are honest. And when you budget your photography, know that Febus Films prices by collections rather than by the hour, so your coverage is built around your day instead of a clock.

How do you choose a Lake Nona venue that photographs beautifully?

Walk every venue with three questions in mind. Where does the light fall at the hour of your ceremony? What does the rain plan actually look like, room by room? And where will you get ready, and does that space have real window light? A venue that answers all three well will make your photos calmer, softer, and more honest, and your whole day will feel easier for it.

Light first. Florida sun is strong and direct for most of the day, so shade is your friend for midday portraits. Tree canopy, covered terraces, and clean architectural shade all protect skin tones and keep everyone comfortable. For the ceremony itself, late afternoon is the sweet spot, when the sun drops, the lakes go calm, and portraits afterward land in golden light.

Rain second, because this is Florida. Summer afternoons can turn in minutes, and even spring and fall carry risk. Your backup room should be a space you would happily marry in. Ask to see it set for a ceremony. And if your heart is set on the lawn, ask what a tent plan includes for flooring and sidewalls.

Logistics third. Lake Nona sits minutes from Orlando International Airport, which makes it one of the easiest Orlando areas for out-of-town guests. Hotel venues keep everyone under one roof. Estate venues may need a shuttle plan. Neither is wrong, but the choice changes how relaxed your guests feel, and relaxed people photograph beautifully.

Where do couples take wedding photos around Lake Nona?

The lakes are the headline. Lake Nona was built around water, and the paths, lawns, and docks along its lakes catch warm evening light that flatters everyone. Beyond the water, the town center offers clean modern architecture and public art for a more editorial look, while Laureate Park brings greenery and open sky. Most couples mix a little of each into one unhurried portrait walk.

Golden hour is when this area earns its reputation. The sun sets over the lakes, the modern buildings pick up warm reflections, and the whole community slows down. We build portrait time around that window on every timeline we help plan, because twenty unhurried minutes in that light will give you the frames you frame.

Inside the venues, look for the same qualities. Getting-ready suites with large windows make soft, honest preparation photos. Covered terraces give you a portrait location that still works if the weather turns. Staircases, garden walls, and quiet corners away from the party are where the in-between moments live, and those are the photos couples tell us they treasure most.

What if you widen the search just beyond Lake Nona?

Fifteen minutes of driving opens up some of Central Florida’s most loved wedding venues, including several where we can show you a complete gallery from a real wedding day. Cypress Grove Estate in Orlando pairs a 1925 estate house with lakeside lawns and oak canopy. Paradise Cove, where we photographed Nikka and Gabe’s January wedding, is a private waterfront cove built for sunset ceremonies. And up in Winter Park, Casa Feliz, where we photographed Skylar and Zach, wraps a Spanish-style courtyard in brick and garden green.

We mention these for one reason: proof. A venue you can preview through a real wedding gallery is a venue you can choose with confidence. If one of them catches your eye, ask us and we will happily walk you through the full day we photographed there, the light, the timeline, and the rain plan included.

Frequently asked questions

Is Lake Nona a good area for a destination wedding?

Yes, and logistics are the reason. Orlando International Airport is minutes away, hotels sit right in the town center, and guests can stay where the celebration happens. For couples with family flying in from several directions, few Orlando areas make the weekend this simple.

What time of year works well for a Lake Nona wedding?

Late October through April brings the mildest weather and the lowest rain risk, which is why those Saturdays book first. Summer weddings here are beautiful too, with the right plan: a later ceremony, shade for guests, and an indoor backup you genuinely like.

Do Lake Nona venues have rain plans?

The hotels and the country club have indoor spaces that convert for ceremonies, and the estate and lakeside venues work with tent plans. Because Florida weather turns quickly, confirm exactly what your contract’s backup includes before you sign, and ask to see the backup room in person.

How far ahead should you book a Lake Nona wedding venue?

Peak-season Saturdays at in-demand Orlando venues often book a year or more ahead. Lake Nona is still growing, so its calendars can move faster than the region’s average. Start tours early, then book your photographer soon after, so your date is held on both calendars.

Can we take engagement photos in Lake Nona too?

Absolutely. The lakes, the town center’s modern lines, and Laureate Park’s greenery make an easy, varied session without leaving the neighborhood. Many of our couples plan their engagement session here, and by the wedding day we’ll already know each other well.

Your Lake Nona wedding

However you picture the day, Lake Nona wedding venues give you something rare in Orlando: a setting that feels new, calm, and genuinely local, with the airport close and the lakes closer. If you are planning a wedding here and want photographers who know this light because we live in it, we would love to hear your story.
